The past few weeks have been a lot more different in comparison to our normal schedule. We went on our team vacation to Sarandë and Tirana, and had a great time. One of my favorite things about vacation was that we were in a touristy area. This meant I was able to communicate with people better because they spoke English. It also meant that any time I spoke Albanian to someone it confused them because most Americans that are tourists there know nothing.
While on vacation we met a couple people who spoke English, by taking public transportation. We met a
woman from Brazil, a man from Chicago, and very briefly talked to a man from Russia. It was great to see how connected everybody is by travel, and I just loved the idea that you can meet people from everywhere.
After coming back, we got right back into the swing of things. With only two weeks left here, all of the things that I usually find tiring (I still enjoy them), are now going by very quickly. It’s impossible to wrap my head around the fact that I’ve been here for 5 months, and if you include my time in Columbus, I’ve been gone for 8 months.
When I joined this program I didn’t know what to expect. I actually had a lot of expectations that were probably unrealistic, but God has met me here. He’s been with my through my disappointments and my victories. So as I’m leaving here, and as I look back at this incredible journey, all I can think is that Jesus did it all.
