Scripture Starting Point: Philippians 2:5-13
Memory Verse: Philippians 2:5
Message Reflection Questions
Begin in silence, recognizing the presence of Jesus. Imagine Jesus giving you new eyesight to see yourself as He sees you.
Read Philippians 2:5-13. What does this show you about Jesus? What does this say about humans?
How do you think about the nature of the mindset of Christ? Are you actively pursuing this in a conscious fashion?
On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being lowest), how do you consider the mind of Christ to be the shaping dynamic of your life? Same scale: What is the level of your desire for the mind of Christ to be the shaping dynamic of your life?
Do you see the reversal happening between the mind of Adam and the mind of Christ in your life? Have you or are you filling yourself with false security? Do you see the emptiness in that?
How are you coming along in your understanding of humility as not being defined in reference to oneself but with respect to others? What stands in the way of you humbling yourself?
Do you compare yourself with others? Why do you do this other than a need to find yourself somehow distinguished from them (for better or worse)? What does this say about your sense of self and identity?
Where are you challenged in your everyday life to live out the confession “Jesus Christ is Lord”?

Helpful Instructions for reading
Start with silence. Recognize that the Jesus in scripture is the Jesus with you where you are.
Thank God for something that happened in the last 24 hours.
Keep a list of names and descriptions of Jesus from the text. If someone calls him by certain name or characteristic, write this down. Ask: how can I receive Jesus as this name or characteristic? How can I live this name or characteristic in my life?
Finish in prayer for yourself, your family, your neighbors, your co-workers, your church. Consider praying through the nations at www.prayercast.com/nations.html.
